Professor at Beijing Film Academy. He is the writer of Spring Fever (2009), which won Best Screenplay Award at the 62th Cannes Film Festival. He also co-wrote Mystery (2012), winner of Best Screenwriter at the 7th Asian Film Awards, and The Shadow Play (2019). He is the director and co-writer of Mr. No Problem (2016), winner of Award for Best Artistic Contribution at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 53rd Taipei Golden Horse Awards; as well as Love Song 1980 (2020), a selected film for the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival in the “Tokyo Premiere 2020” section.
